After getting the good ending in this game I was left with a few questions (though it was a pretty decent ending). I've come across a couple of nice resources where a lot of stuff is explained.

Firstly this neogaf.com thread where it seems that an actual member of staff of Aksys Games going by the handle of "Akselziys" is mingling with players of the game and discussing what's going on in the game with lots of spoiler tags.
