Gamestop doesn't suck today; NSMBU selling for 30 Euro

Wow that's like nearly half of its original price. It's part of some Halloween promotion thing they've got going as in 2 for 50 or something like that, but man! That's just too good to pass up!

I'm just wondering who would go for a deal like this. I can't think of anyone, other than someone so unbelievably desperate to get rid of their games

In any case they don't have the "Out of stock" sticker on the display boxes anymore.

Nintendo Selects Super Paper Mario, Wii Sports Resort are out along with the Wii Mini

They just came out this past Friday along with a couple of others like Mario Party 8. The Wii Mini also got released. The display box for the Wii Mini looked so tiny compared to the other console boxes!

Anyway the new Nintendo Selects games can be found in Argos and you can register them, even if you registered the originals. I didn't bother looking in GameStop, seeing how they're such fuckups.

Does GameStop actually want to sell Paper Mario?

It's a silly question I know but due to their complete eejitry over the last year, I get the feeling that they don't want to sell me the game at all.

Before Nintendo gave the final set in stone release date, GameStop spent the whole year guessing the wrong one and ended up throwing people off. That was bad enough, but last week a clerk told me that it wasn't coming out until next year and that it wasn't even on the shop system. He said this to me with a straight face, even though I had GameStop's recent catalogue open on the page where it explicitly gave the December 7th date for Paper Mario: Sticker Star.

If I was to hazard a guess, I would say he's mixing Paper Mario up with the new Luigi's Mansion. We've had at least two Nintendo Direct features telling us what the final date for the game was but no, some eejit from GameStop has to fuck up the date even now.

Now, I know that the clerk is only there to do the best job he can of selling bits of plastic to people. He mightn't even know who the fuck Satoru Shibata is. This whole mix up though would make anyone feel that GameStop are conspiring against people who want to buy this game.

But hey, of course GameStop isn't involved in some kind of conspiracy. They're just incompetent. Today I saw loads of copies of this newly released game proudly displayed on their shelves. You can buy one right now! You don't have to wait until next year!

This single case more than justifies Nintendo Direct. In a world of uncertainty, this feature is the only true way we can be informed about Nintendo games.

The local Argos now sells eShop cards :)

I haven't been going to GameStop much lately other than to buy eShop cards. Now that I can buy them in Argos I don't even have to set foot in there! Horray!

Seriously though Argos may have a smaller choice in games but it has a much better shopping experience than GameStop does.

Also there's a super cheap Skyward Sword deal currently at Argos. Make sure you have MotionPlus before buying though.

The 1% that don't need Gamestop clerks

One of the Pach Attack videos on Gametrailers lately talks about how since video game fans know so much about games already that we don't need Gamestop clerks. It's the other 99% that need them. Now it is kind of cute that he uses those percentage numbers that have gotten popular recently but he does have a point.

It's sometimes embarrassing going into a Gamestop and you know more about recent releases of games than the clerk does. Sometimes it takes all the patience you can muster to not scream. Over time you do get used to it and you can say "No thanks" before the clerk can even finish making their obligatory offer of disc insurance.

I'd actually love to have self service checkouts at Gamestop like the ones at Dunnes Stores or Tescos. Then again they're not exactly groceries so that won't happen.

Gamestop sells new games in broken cases

I bought a brand new DS game recently but when I opened the box, the cartridge fell out. There are these tiny holders that keep it in place but one of them is broken. The DS game case now just seems like junk now that this tiny piece is broken off.

Gamestop is at fault. Why? Because they don't sell new games sealed. Someone there must've broken it when they were taking it out.
