New Leaf: Other players with different languages

I often StreetPass people from other countries, especially these days when there are a lot of tourists around. I like the way that notifications of them come up in their native language. I also like the way that other static messages you get from New Leaf StreetPassers are in English whereas their personal greeting/quip/etc  might be in their language.

This goes the same for the Dream Suite. I visited a couple of Japanese players' towns and it's cool to see what's in English and what's in Japanese.

I'm getting many more StreetPass hits lately... relay in action?

From the last Nintendo Direct or so they announced special access points where StreetPass signals can rest until someone else comes along. I'm just wondering if this is what's happening on my daily commute as I am getting a lot more hits...

Puzzle Swap has some new Mario/Luigi U/Xenoblade panels as well...

I got StreetPassed recently with some of these new panels... I wonder my SPers got them?

I also heard there's one with heroines too that has Pauline, Zelda, Peach etc.

The Salesbunny in the StreetPass Plaza shop

Seriously, even if you never buy any of the new games, be sure to talk to the Salesbunny(yes that's its name). It gives you a nice explanation of the games and is just fun to read the dialogue.

StreetPass Squad shmup looks especially interesting

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hmscE9fljnw
It's a shmup! The clothes colour of the Miis you StreetPass determine what power-ups you get. Otherwise it plays like any other shmup and even has a lovely Parodius/Twinbee/Fantasy Zone style look to it.

I like the look of the way you can rotate so the powerups aim outwards in different directions.

StreetPass Plaza works fine now; new games Squad, Garden, Battle and Mansion; prices; sales rep bunny

There was another update. Everything works fine now and there's no more freezing when I try to get into the shop section of the Plaza.

What I found there was quite interesting. These four new StreetPass games cost 5 Euro each but are available as a combo pack for 15 Euro.

What was even more interesting was this little bunny Mii that talked to you about the games. It shows you screenshots on its "brand new tablet" and talks you through the whole process and explains the games to you. It also asks you the odd question like whether you like side-scrolling shooters or puzzle games and shows a lot of enthusiasm when you ask about the price straight away.

I won't explain the games here. It's much more worthwhile going to the shop section and have this bunny sales rep talk you through it all. The process was really fascinating!

This new thing came out of absolutely nowhere too!

Edit: According to the Music Player section, this character's name is "Salesbunny"

Mii Plaza has new StreetPass stuff and loads faster

I like the loading faster part! The new stuff I haven't tried though because it keeps crashing on me. I'll have deeper impressions some other time. I don't know about this "buy" thing though...

How I know Animal Crossing New Leaf is going to be really popular

I bought this game when it got released and on the very same day I got 8 StreetPasses! 8! Never got so many at once before!

One of them was playing the game ALREADY.

Denpa Men 2 is out today too

I like Denpa Men but I haven't played it in a long time. This new one has StreetPass, which I'd like to try. By the way, the first one is on sale now so... Do I buy now while the StreetPass is new and fresh or do I wait until this one gets a discount? Hmm...

Bear in mind I don't know exactly how the StreetPass for this works either. Hmm...

In any case, buy the Zelda Oracles games!

If you're going to see Wreck-It Ralph, take your 3DS in StreetPass mode! (got a Kildare Mii!)

I know we're past the opening weekend for the film but it could still draw some crowds by word of mouth. After all, it is the greatest movie about video games ever made!

When I went, the cinema was completely full; furthermore, I racked up LOADS of StreetPassers during my trip, even meeting someone from Kildare; another county marked off the list!

StreetPassed someone from Waterford!

Was there a 3DS sales explosion over Christmas 2012? I ask because I've been getting loads of StreetPasses since!

Also with that, loads of NSMB2 challenges, also with the annoying world 1-5 from the mushroom pack.

In any case it's great! I'm very glad I didn't have to travel to Waterford to StreetPass someone from there too!

Isn't it strange too how you can put 3DS cartridges in and out while on the system menu but you can't do it with SD Cards unless you turn it off? The 3DS must depend heavily on the SD Card.

Actually... come to think of it, it's not weird. It's quite sensible. The SD would have all kinds of configurations and data on it which the 3DS needs and the game cartridge only needs to have the information displayed if you're not using it. I guess I'm just used to be able to do this with disc based consoles. I never dared to mess with cartridge based systems - but then again, they usually didn't have firmware menus.

Explaining the 3DS to someone who unwrapped theirs on Christmas Day

Yesterday I was showing a family member how to do StreetPass and about play coins. It took a long time to explain it all to them. They were taken by the initial novelty value of the whole concept though and spent the day after Christmas Dinner walking around the house trying to build up their 10 play coins a day. That was pretty interesting!

I'm really sick of world 1-5 in NSMB2

Every StreetPasser I come across only has a record on the mushroom pack and the second level is always this stupid water level.

Water levels aren't generally great but having to do them over and over to beat someone's same challenge again and again is a royal pain.

StreetPassed someone from Tipperary!

I finally got someone from there! I had been trying for ages. They had no Puzzle Swap pieces though.

Got my second NSMB2 StreetPass challenge

This guy's Mii didn't have a smarmy face like the last one but he had a record of over 15k coins in the mushroom pack.

It took some amount of practice but I finally managed to beat his record with a total of over 17k coins. I had to try again and again through trial and error and things not going according to plan as well as scoring just shy of beating his record.

It took so long to actually do it I ended up passing the 200k coin benchmark! The challenge from the last StreetPasser got me through 100k!

Got a new Kirby jigsaw in Puzzle Swap

Got a SpotPass message today telling me that there was a new puzzle and to celebrate, I was granted one piece. There are quite a few Kirby ones now.

I spend all my Play Coins in SP Quest and I don't do an awful lot here. I wonder if that frustrates other StreetPassers when people don't have pieces? The pink ones for example are tough to get as they're StreetPass exclusive.

Got my first NSMB2 StreetPass challenge

Today I StreetPassed this NSMB2 player who had a higher coin total than mine and had a Mii with a smarmy face.

The moment I saw his face I knew I had to beat the crap out of his record. After doing so — and without using the white raccoon suit unlike him — I did it and managed to get over the 100k benchmark too!

The only thing that would've been more satisfying would be if I could see the smarmy grin wiped off his Mii's face.

I got some StreetPass hits finally!

Genuine ones too! I got a few from strangers while I was commuting through towns. It's a really fun thing and it's thrilling to see the green light on the 3DS when it's in sleep mode.

Cheap way to get StreetPass hits

While carrying a 3DS with StreetPass enabled, go into a shop where they have a 3DS on display and switch on the wireless function. Whether you like the idea of that or not is up to you.
